Special Issue Introduction
The unprecedented expansion of wireless networks, such as the rapid growth of mobile devices and data traffic, the massive emergence of wireless application scenarios, has resulted in a tremendous increase in energy consumption, which significantly impacts the network performance and causes severe environmental challenges. Thus, energy-efficient communication plays an essential role in the future 6G wireless networks, both environmentally and economically. To achieve energy-efficient 6G wireless networks, one way is to reduce the energy consumptions involved in wireless communications and network protocols, while another way is to exploit energy harvesting technology to enable green and self-powered wireless communications.
This special issue will focus on the emerging and innovative technologies, from the perspectives of network architecture, advanced communication techniques, algorithm and protocol design, and application development, to achieve energy-efficient wireless networks. We solicit original, high-quality, and unpublished research papers on topics including, but not limited to:
Novel energy-efficient network architectures/protocols/transmission techniques for B5G/6G
Joint beamforming and resource allocation for MIMO networks
Energy-efficient resource allocation for NOMA based wireless networks
Energy-efficient resource management for mobile edge computing networks
Energy-efficient resource scheduling algorithms for wireless networks with energy harvesting
Joint coordination and resource allocation for wireless information and power transfer
Energy-efficient resource allocation for intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) aided wireless networks
Energy-aware resource management for backbone networks, smart grid, and opportunistic spectrum sharing networks
Energy-efficient resource management for wireless sensor networks
Artificial intelligence/machine learning-based algorithm design for energy-efficient radio resource management
Energy-aware optimal control for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-based communication networks
